Armed Police Training Schools for the first time started in 1982 at CAR (HQ), Bangalore, under the control of Police Commissioner. In 1996 it has transfered to Yelahanka under the control of Training Department. The Armed Police Training school is situated in Yelahanka, 20 kms from the Bangalore City. The Police Training School is spread over 25.05 acres of land. This Armed Police Training School gives basic training to Armed Police Constables and also Refresher Course to In-Service Police Officers to update there professional knowledge and skills. It also conducted basic training for PSI"s. So far 7700 Armed Police Personnel are trained in 24 batches. Also 703 AHCs and ARSIs have undertaken refresher courses. The School strives to impart professional skills, ethics and morals of the highest standard, it also tries inculcate a spirit of service to the community in the training. The Academy is headed by a Principal of the rank of Superintendent of Police and Assisted by a Vice-Principal of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, 1 Reserve Police Inspector and 2 Police Inspectors, 3 Reserve Sub-Inspectors and 1 police Sub-Inspector. The sanctioned strength of the faculty also includes a Chief Drill Instructor and Assistant Chief Drill Instructors and Assistant Drill Instructor and Constables. The supporting staff include administrative, ministerial and other Group D employees. Total staff strength is 89. |
