CBI Academy
The Academy is situated on the east of Delhi,in district Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh at a distance of about 40 Kms from New Delhi Railway Station and nearly 75 Kms from Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is spread over 26.5 acres of lush green fields with covered area consisting of the Administrative, Academic, Hostel and Residential Blocks.

To train human resource of CBI,State Police and Vigilance Organisations to attain higher levels of professionalism, industry, impartiality, uprightness and dedication to the service of our nation.

Training Objectives
CBI Academy aim to achieve excellence in training the CBI officers, State police officers and the officers of various vigilance agencies in the investigation, prosecution and vigilance functioning.
1. To ensure that everyone in the CBI is trained.
2. To guide the human resource to realize it’s full potential and to ensure full commitment towards achievement of the goals and objectives of the organization.
3. To sensitize the human resource of CBI to respond to the dynamic socio-legal environment of the country.
4. To strive after quality, standardization and constant improvement in the techniques & skills of report writing, investigation, prosecution and supervision of cases.
5. To re-motivate the CBI personnel to discharge their duties professionally.
6. To develop a sound research base in training for new vistas of investigation.
7. To broad-base the training efforts of CBI with inter-institutional and international cooperation.
8. To ensure optimal utilization of training resources through a cost conscious culture.
Training Management
1. The CBI Academy at Ghaziabad to be the focal point of training activities within the organization.
2. The CBI Academy to be responsible for identification of suitable training programmes, regulation of nominations of trainees and preparation of the Annual Training Calendar.
3. A Training Advisory Committee consisting of one DIG each from Anti-Corruption, Economic Offences and Special Crime Divisions and the Director, CFSL, New Delhi, to advise the Head of CBI Academy on specialized training programmes.
4. The structure and syllabi of the basic courses to be reviewed periodically by training review committee consisting of a group of Joint Directors.
Training Delivery
CBI Academy started functioning on 10.1.1996. Over the years, it has emerged as a major police training institution and has made a mark at the national as well as international level.
CBI’s training infrastructure has further been expanded with the establishment of three Regional Training Centres at Kolkata, Chennai & Mumbai. These RTCs have been equipped with modern training aids with an aim to maximise training outcome in a cost effective manner, by utilizing services of all the local resource persons.
Training Courses
Training courses organized by CBI Academy fall under the following broad categories:-
i. Basic courses for directly recruited Dy. Superintendents of Police, Sub Inspectors and Constables. ii.
Orientation Courses for officers joining CBI on deputation.
iii.
Induction courses for newly appointed Law Officers and Ministerial Staff of CBI.
iv.
Post Promotional Courses to equip the officers to handle new responsibilities arising out of change in the nature of their job.
v. Specialised Courses in the field of Anti Corruption, Economic offences and Conventional crimes for Investigating Officers of CBI as well as State Police Organisations.
vi.
Short-term in-service Courses in areas of professional interest like Scientific Aids to Investigation, Interview and Interrogation Techniques, Cyber Crimes, Trial Management, Money Laundering.

Seminar/workshops for senior officers on Anti-Corruption Laws and Investigation, Economic Offences and Information Technology.
viii. Vertical Interaction courses. ix. Foreign courses allotted to CBI Academy by Bureau of Police Research & Development/Ministry of Home Affairs.
During the year 2006, the Academy conducted 75 courses and trained 1969 officers/ officials including 31 Sub-Inspector Cadets of Batch-X.
Outdoor Training
Physical Training (PT, Parade, UAC, Yoga etc.) is given adequate importance in the basic courses and long term orientation courses. Qualified instructors from the para military forces have been drawn on deputation basis. Outdoor training includes Drills, Physical efficiency & endurance Training, Yoga, Judo and Unarmed Combat (UAC). Besides facilities exist for playing football, volleyball, basket ball, badminton and lawn tennis. The Academy has a putting range for Golfers as well. Recently added attractions are Billiards and a Pool Table. Two multipurpose Gymnasiums have also been set up in each block of the Academy Hostel. Morning PT and evening games are compulsory for all the participants attending courses in the Academy.
