" The main objective of the Police Training Centre, Lungverh is to act as an agemnt of law and uphold the law fairly and firmly to prevent and detect crime honestly, expeditiously, effectively and with a scientific approach so asto instill a sense of fear of law in minds of law-breakers and to maintain public peace and to provide a sense of safety and security in the minds of law-abiding citizens and do all these with integrity, impartiality, comon-sense and good judgement ". Police Training Centre, Lungverh is the premier and only Police Training Centre in Mizoram which was established in 1973 as a part of Training Wing of 1st Battalion Mizoram Armed Police and continued as such till 31st March 1986. The Police Training Centre was, officially recognized and established w.e.f. 1st April 1986 with the sanction of the President if India vide Government of india, Ministry of Home Affairs letter No. 13034/21/97-MZ dated: 8.11.1985. The Training institution has since been under the charge and supervision of an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police, designated as Principal.
The Police Training Centre is located adjacent to the Aizawl - Lengpui Airport BRTF Road on 54 National Highway approximately 16 kras from Aizawl and approximately 15 kms from Lengpui Airport. The Beginning of the Training centre is approximately 1 km from the Aizawl - Lengpui main Road. The Training Centre is within the jurisdiction of Aizawl District. The total PTC Lungverh Complex covers an area of 166.14 hectares which was initially under Sakawrtuichhun Village Council area and handed over to Government of Mizoram, Home Department vide Pass No. DPL 49/1985 of Government of Mizoram, Revenue Department Memo No. LRR/B-49/85/49(A) Dt. 12/12/1985. The boundary of the training centre starts from Melsawmlui in the north and goes towards east till Khanghutlangkawn. From there it goes up to Zawnglungdih kawn in the east via the beginning point. From there it goes towards west up to Belkhailui and goes eastwards to Sihhmui village boundary. Then, it goes to the north till crossing PTC to Sairang footpath. From there it goes and joins Melsawmlui. The Training Centre has a sylvan surroundings and salubrious climate with an average temperature of 28 degree Celsius in summer and 12 degree Celsius in winter. The peak of monsoon starts from the month of April/May is thickly covered with wild forest having variety of indigenous Flora and Fauna. The Training centre takes pride in preserving and protecting the wildlife and environment within the complex. |
