NCRB Training
The National Police Commission had recommended the creation of nodal
agency, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, to collect and disseminate
information on Crime and Criminals.
On this recommendation the NCRB was created in 1986 with the amalgamation
of Directorate of Coordination Police Computers, Central Finger Print
Bureau, Data Section of Coordination Division of the Central Bureau of
Investigation and Statistical Section of the Bureau of Police Research
and Development.
Training Branch of NCRB is headed by Shri Hitesh C. Awasthy, IPS (UP:85),
Deputy Director.
It organises courses for Indian Police Officers as well for the Foreign
Police Officers, broadly in following areas:
- Information Technology
- Finger Print Science
For Indian Officers, there are overall 10 courses on Information Technology,ranging
from Basics of Computer (like Fundamentals, Windows 2000, MS Office)to the
Advanced level (like Windows 2000 Server, SQL Server, VB .NET), including
Network & E-Security, Basic Crime Analysis and Web Designing. The duration
for different courses ranges from 1 - 3 weeks.
For Finger Print Experts of the Country, Training branch organises week's course that covers advancements made in the field of Finger Prince Science.
For Foreign Police Officers, courses are conducted every year between January-March, one each on "Information Technology in Law Enforcement" and "Advanced Finger Print Science & Computers", under the ITEC/SCAAP scholarship schemes of the Ministry of External Affairs and TCS of Colombo Plan of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India.
