To impart training in industrial security aspects for various categories of new incumbents and service personnel, CISF has one training academy, NISA(National Industrial Security Academy) and 6 RTCs (Recruit Training Centers) located all over India. The new entrants at the entry level of constable, ASI/Clk, SI, AC are put to rigorous training for a period of 36 weeks, 18 weeks, 50 weeks and 52 weeks respectively. In various fields like weaponry, criminal jurisprudence. Industrial laws and other specialised Training. Syllabi for them also includes Human rights. Intelligence work and handling sophisticated weaponry and electronic gadgets meant for strengthening the security coverage.
NISA also conducts some specialised courses like Advance Industrial Security Management Course, Legal and Establishment course. Intelligence course for supervisory officers and Senior managers of the public undertakings.
Due to outstanding performance by the NISA, this premier institute has been selected and Earmarked as Center of Excellence in Industrial Security and Security of vital Installations by the committee set up by MHA.
NISA is equipped with modem training aids for imparting effective training to the trainees, it also has a Technical center with all modem Gadgets, computers and explosive models. Apart from PT/parade grounds, obstacle ales and assault courses and firing range, the Academy is also having stand model room, R&D Cell, and computer cell imparting training by modem methods.
CISF officers are also detailed to undergo senior level courses such as management courses. Training of trainees courses, Training Administrative course, staff officers course, vertical Interaction course conducted by NPA.
The CISF Fire Services Training Wing is also located at NISA Hyderabad for basic and advanced level fire training programmes. Fire fighting training and handling of fire equipment is imparted to the fire personnel at NISA (National Industrial Security Academy). This is apart from the training imparted on physical security which is the basic role of the CISF.
Computers being the order of the day, NISA Conducts Computers awareness courses for officers and men twice in a year. Besides this, Force Head Quarters at Delhi and Sector Head Quarters at Calcutta also organizes a course on computer Basics and handling of package being used for in-service force personnel.
CISF has its own wireless link and trained personnel connecting down south to mountains in North and valleys in North-East to desert in the West.
CISF has been training Officers and other ranks of sister organisations in various security applications in a significant way and also geared ourselves to provide specialised fire training to the persons of other organisations at NISA.
The National Industrial Security Academy (NISA), a premier training institute of CISF , Hyderabad has been declared a ‘Centre of Excellence’ on Industrial Security by the Government. An Technical Centre along with the R&D Wing of NISA has been working to develop modern security systems and undertaking studies in security technology and global trends for further dissemination to CISF units. A R&D Cell has been set up at the CISF Headquarters in New Delhi for devising more cost effective security options.
