Police Training Institute was set up on 1st May Nineteen Sixty Seven (01/05/67)as a training school. Subsequently, with the increase in training activities,it was elevated to the status of a Police Training College(PTC).PTC provides Basic training to constables and In-service trainings to various ranks of Tripura Police from Dy.SP’s to constables. In addition,PTC also provides specialized In-service training courses to Foresters and Rangers of Tripura Forest Department. P.T.C is located under Airport Police Station, about 3.5 Km North of Agartala Airport. It is spread over an area of 77.61 Acres. The Principal is the Head of Office under the overall supervision of IGP (Trg) and DIGP (Trg). PTC has three branches:– Administrative Branch,Outdoor Branch and Indoor Branch. One Dy.SP (TPS Gr.II) and one Asst.Commandant(TPS Gr.II) assist the principal in supervising the functioning of indoor & outdoor branch respectively. Besides, there are 4 Inspectors each in the Indoor and outdoor branch. The indoor and outdoor training is directly supervised by Chief Law Instructor (CLI) and Chief Drill Inspector (CDI) respectively. The indoor instructors comprise of experienced police officers (Unarmed Branch) of the rank of Sub Inspectors. The outdoor instructors comprise of young and dynamic police officers (Armed Branch) of the rank of Sub Inspectors to Constables. The administrative wing is supervised by Office Superintendent, assisted by ministerial staff and supporting staff (group-D). The total staff strength of PTC being 259 (Executive: 203, Ministerial:56). |
